Fluorescent Lighting for Color Work
About fluorescent lamps, color rendering, and how lighting and LCD monitor hoods can help level up your color work environment
Most Fluorescent Lamps Are Not Recommended
Most professional workplaces today still use fluorescent lighting. When it comes to color work, however, most fluorescent lamps are typically not recommended (though some do work and we will discuss those in a bit). The reason that most conventional fluorescent lamps on the market are not suitable for working with color is because they tend to have highly distorted light spectra and so color deviations become apparent - especially when you compare an LCD monitor screen to paper. For example, accurately printed colors may appear greenish under fluorescent light.
